Father’s Day Gift Ideas

Fathers day CollageCamille and I had our husbands write out their wish-lists for Father’s Day so that we could help other women shopping for “Culinary Papas.” Both of our husbands love to grill and are happy chopping up vegetables in the kitchen. If that sounds like your husband, these gifts will be a grand slam for Father’s Day this year.  These are all Amazon affiliate links to help aid you in shopping. It’s the same price you’d pay directly to Amazon, we don’t add any charge. I’m an Amazon fan because I am a procrastinator; Amazon Prime saves me time and my family relationships. Just click on the image for the direct link to Amazon.

If my husband could have anything it would be the Traegar Smoker. He used his sister’s Traeger to smoke some tri-tip, brisket and pork chops on Memorial Day and it was as good as the Costco salesmen proclaim. With free shipping from Amazon you won’t have to sneak it home on top of the car from Costco for dad.

For the other end of the budget spectrum, we love this meat thermometer. If you have a husband that wants to get more serious and precise in his grilling, perhaps the most important thing he can do to improve his grilling results is cook the meat until it’s just perfectly done, not well-done. And, as a bonus, it’s less than $20.

If you are a camping family, this skillet would be perfect. Even if you’re not a camper, let the cast iron take its effect on your food’s flavors on the stove top.

This is our favorite grilling cookbook of all time because I get the most consistent results from it. We have the older version and we have absolutely loved the many recipes that we have tried. Camille’s family has this one too and they also grill from it frequently.

If your husband is obsessed with making the best burger in the world and you already own a KitchenAid, this would be perfect. Camille & Rob have one and grind their own meat. The taste is definitely superior because you can choose what cut of meat you want in your ground beef. Chuck makes the best burger!

Rob’s father and champion griller recommends this Pig Tail to everyone. It has a 5-star review and the description boasts, “the sharp spiral snare at the end of Pigtail’s tapered stainless steel shaft is cleverly designed to lightly pierce the edge of virtually any solid food. A quick flip of the wrist and the food is turned over.” It’s a fast way to turn a grill full of chicken breasts or want to flip a steak in time to close the grill fast to keep the grill super hot.

Cory used to travel to Austin, Texas every 6-8 weeks on business trips and he would bring us BBQ sauce from Salt Lick, one of Texas’ most famous BBQ havens. We are now addicted and need to have a constant supply at our house. The picture is the original recipe. If you can handle a little heat. you’ll love the spicy one too. Get the 3-pack, you’ll be glad you did. The beautiful thing about the Salt Lick BBQ sauce is that unlike so many sauces, it’s not ketchup-based, but mustard based. Beef, pork, chicken, veggies are all improved by this heaven-sent. And…like most everything at the original Salt Lick restaurant out in Driftwood, these sauces are gluten free.

The dutch oven is one of our favorite gifts to give for weddings, because families who camp together, stay together. Cooking in your dutch oven is a perfect way to enjoy a summer evening together as a family. Do yourself a favor and spend a bit extra to get the Lodge brand.

Rob swears by this grill basket. It’s a great way to grill veggies like mushrooms, zucchini, peppers and onions. Chop them and toss with olive oil, salt and pepper. There’s no need to waste time skewering them on kabobs sticks. We don’t have one of these, but I’m thinking I should get one for Cory. (Just please don’t tell him.)

Cory loves having these large tongs for flipping vegetables, chicken and steak on the BBQ and for grabbing tin-foil dinners from a camp fire. The key is that they are long and super sturdy, not the short kind you have in your kitchen for spaghetti.

We hope you have a fabulous Father’s Day this year spoiling the dads in your life. Please comment with other gift ideas you’re considering this year or that have been hits in past years.
